re: Asia-Pacific Plane Tickets | date: April 12, 2000 | location: Seattle, WA |
After much shopping around, we located a San Francisco firm that specializes in round-the-world and trans-pacific travel:
Air Brokers Intl. We described our approximate route (knowing, for example, that we had to be in Sydney for the Olympics Sept. 20 and wanted to come back to Australia during their summer) and they put together a flight package that fit our needs. They aren't tied to a specific airlines, so they can mix-and-match to come up with the best deal.
Our flight details:
Our cost was initially $3004 to return from Sydney, but we were able to add stopovers in New Zealand and Rarotonga (Cook Islands) for just $100 per stop. The dates for all the flights are changeable, but the route is not. If you're shopping for cheaper options, our agent quoted $2340 for a return from Bangkok via Hong Kong (skipping the 2nd Australia leg). Finally, most airlines were booked solid for flights to Australia during the Olympics, so I would expect travel at other times to be cheaper. |
