This Trip
Putting off travel has a way of making future travel plans grow. We've always wanted to take an extended leave of absence, and each year we delayed seemed to add another month to the trip we'd take "some day".

Finally, we set a date for our trip -- we would start our journey at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney Australia. We haven't looked back since.

The hardest part is deciding -- and committing -- to go. Once you do that, everything else falls into place. Sure, it's hard to leave your job, rent your house, say goodbye to your dog for a year, but it's all doable.

Our trip planning has been greatly aided by the engaging and informative travelogues of other round-the-worlders. We found their sites the best way to get a feel for what to expect from our trip.

We created this site as a way to keep our friends and family up-to-date on our whereabouts and to provide useful information to anyone who is planning (or dreaming of) their own round-the-world adventure.

We won't be bringing laptop computers or digital cameras on our trip -- after all, one of our goals is to get away from computers for a while -- but we will keep it updated from Internet cafes as we go. We expect to update it several times a month.
